     The 5X has elevated Night Vision Binoculars to a whole new plane. The Long-Range and Image Clarity of this Dedicated 5X Power PVS-7 Type Night Vision Goggle would be astonishing in daylight conditions, but imagine the results you will achieve at night, when everyone else is seeing blurs. This long range Night Vision Binocular incorporates the body of an AN/PVS-7B and a High Quality five-power (5X) Catadioptric objective lens. Utilizing Gen 2, Gen 3 Commercial or top quality, State-of-the-Art MILSPEC Generation 3 NV Image Tubes, safely secured within a (MILSPEC) PVS-7 type housing, these 5X Binoculars are the envy of the industry.

     The PVS-7 was designed for US ground forces and you have a choice of new GEN 2 or GEN III Commercial or Catalog Spec (MILSPEC) grade image intensifier tubes from ITT or L-3. This versatile system delivers extraordinary gain and resolution on the darkest of nights, and this dedicated binocular offers technically superior long-range Night Vision viewing that is a dramatic improvement over Afocal conversions. The Gen 3 units offer Automatic Brightness Control, EMI-RFI Protection, built-in IR illuminator w/ON-indicator and low battery indicator. 

These NVG\'s are built in the USA and have ergonomically designed interface controls that comprise of Focus Adjustments, Diopter Adjustments, and Interpupillary Eyepiece Adjustments. Interpupillary adjustments, or the distance between your eyes can be made to optimize the viewing scene in addition to separate Diopter adjustment rings (left/right eye focus) for eyeglass wearer\'s, offer unparalled comfort and optimum vision for most users.

     A detector located on the goggle\'s body called the High-Light Cutoff will automatically shut off after 70 (+/- 30) seconds of operation in daylight or bright room light to protect the image intensifier tube. Headlights, flashlights or other concentrated light sources will not actuate the High-Light Cutoff unless focused directly on the detector.

Binocular Image Tube Specification

The N9810 Series Gen III 18 mm image intensifier consists of a high-efficiency GaAs photocathode bonded to a glass input window, a microchannel plate (MCP) current amplifier, and a P-43 phosphor screen deposited on an inverting fiber-optic output window.

 The Gen III photocathode is very sensitive to low-radiation levels of visible and, especially, near infrared light. It also provides very high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for extended detection ranges at very low light levels. The 6-micron channel spacing in the MCP provides exceptional resolution and extended detection ranges in low-light conditions. The MCP has a thin ion-barrier film that preserves photocathode sensitivity during operation, thereby greatly extending the life of Gen III tubes compared to Gen II.

Continued improvements to the Gen III N9810 image intensifier tubes  increases operational range and situational awareness for the user.  Some L-3 units are equipped with a Thin-Filmed Gated Power Supply, or if they are made by ITT it is called the Pinnacle™ version, provide truly outstanding performances in high-light or light-polluted areas, such as urban environments.  In addition, the Pinnacle or Auto-Gated tubes provide clearer resolution and a much reduced halo.
