The BNS-LR (AN/PVS-27 Style) is an incredibly powerful Clip-On Night Vision Weaponsight with an impressive magnification. Big brother to the BNS (AN/PVS-22 Style), it can be mounted in front of any bore-sighted daytime scope with magnification ranging from (3X - 20X) three to twenty power.

The BNS-LR does not require any bore-sighting and once mounted, the day sight provides the aiming point. The BNS-LR maintains boresight despite normal misalignments due to mount position errors and does not alter the sighting centerline (parallax is unchanged from day scope). The BNS-LR also contains no beam splitter or folded optics to go out of alignment.

The BNS-LR is revolutionary when used with a high magnification fixed or variable power day scope. The magnification is provided by the day scope, which typically has much smaller optics than those associated with normal Night Vision Weaponsights. This means there is no loss in system gain or typical f/number loss associated with large optics. Variable magnification days scopes can actually zoom in (up to 20X) and still retain the same gain with only a slight loss in resolution.

     Optimized for medium and long-range sniper weapons including the SR-25/MK11, XM107, .338 Lapua, .308 M24, Chandler & .300 Win Mag and effective on all weapons from carbines to .50 caliber semi-automatic and bolt action sniper rifles. The BNS-LR also includes FLIR's proprietary Shock Mitigation System^TM, allowing the unit to be used on weapons up to and including .50 caliber bolt-action rifles. The advanced design of the BNS-LR eliminates the typical requirement of removing a primary (day) sighting system since it Clips-On or is mounted in line with a standard day optical sight. Combining day and night vision sights eliminates the need to re-zero, since the primary sight remains undisturbed. Additional advantages to supplementing a primary sighting system with the BNS-LR include maintaining a user’s consistent eye relief and shooting position as well as retaining user muscle memory. By operating the locking quick-disconnect, single-throw lever LaRue mounting system provided, the BNS-LR easily attaches to a MIL-STD-1913 rail interface system. The unit may also be used as a hand-held observation device.
